Kilburn 7 by Ian Welch

Rob Allison and I ran this race in very hot conditions on the 9th July. Rob did a scorching time of around 55 minutes. For the older runners times were irrelevant as it was more a case of survival in the hot sun. Three local runners, myself included, came first in their age categories. Suffering with the heat Ronnie Sherwood and Jim Conaghan also came first in their respective age categories. Including the prizes we also received a bottle of wine. Not bad for three 70 plus runners

I was just watching this race and even that was hard work – it was a scorcher! I’ve never seen Rob finish a race looking so sweaty so to finish first in your age category was awesome!
